For Them What Care

God I love anti-war protestors.

They just remind me that some freedoms are worth fighting for. The freedom to assemble and protest your government's policy should not result in the death of your extended family. Even if those for whom you fight don't look like you, they have a right to live life free from fear that their government would openly and maliciously plot their destruction.

Little known fact: Did you know that Iraq was home of one of the largest wetlands in the world? Did you know that Saddam had 90% of these wetlands drained to punish the marsh dwellers killing or driving off 1000s of species of flora/fauna and the indigenous people? When the United States Institute of Peace describes the 12,000 square miles as having been, "drained, burned and dammed to the point that only remnants of them still exist. Where once lay healthy, ecologically rich wetlands, teeming with aquatic life, buffalo and migratory birds there now is only barren, salt-encrusted land," I wonder if this is indeed another form of "Weapon of Mass Destruction?"

The damage can be undone. The people can go home. Millions for rescuing dogs off burning ships and for getting suicidal whales back into the ocean, but not a dime for our brown friends in a third world country struggling to maintain their way of life.

Anyway, for them what care...
