There once was this mild-mannered photo-journalist and cameraman who suddenly found his life transformed one day while on assignment in Washington DC. While filming a news story regarding the National Cathedral, an object in a dark corner caught his eye. The sword may have been a holy relic, but it was neither locked away or guarded in any fashion. It just lay in a nook in the wall. Its gentle gleam of the blade was like a warm invitation to just touch. The urge to try a couple flat snaps with the blade was unbearable, he reached in and touched it....

A blinding light engulfed him and, when his vision was restored, he had become Seraphim, deliverer of the righteous retribution of the Almighty. He bears the wings of an angel and the Sword of Retribution to lay low the forces of evil.

As he took in these changes, a voice commanded him to choose three powers with which to fulfill his mission on Earth. Without hesitation, he asked for strength equal to his courage, the ability to judge and reveal the truth, and, not wishing to endanger his loved ones, that his foes could not harm him though his wife and family.

That third request granted his wife the abilities to desolidify her corporeal form at will and to see the intents in the hearts of men in order to protect herself and those around her. Forever more, the foul miscreants of humanity would only be able to look but not touch her unearthly beauty.

Together, Seraphim and Holy Spirit soon joined the elite force of newly formed superhero team The God Squad. They also look forward to the eminent arrival of their future partner and child, Cherubim!
